en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dutch maritime service provider Acta Marine has recently taken delivery of the third vessel in its series of four hybrid commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs), designed by Norway's Ulstein Design and Solutions.

Like its sister ships Acta Pegasus and Acta Hercules, the new vessel Acta Gemini is built to DNV class rules and can accommodate and provide workspace for up to 135 personnel engaged in offshore wind farm support operations. The vessel measures 89.6 meters in length, 19.2 meters in beam, with a design draft of 5 meters, depth of 7.6 meters, deadweight of 2,200 tons, and a gross tonnage of approximately 6,749 tons. Its open deck and main deck together cover an area of 940 square meters, with a load capacity of 1,000 tons. The vessel is equipped with a DP2 dynamic positioning system, an energy storage system, and dual-fuel engines capable of running on marine gas oil (MGO) and methanol, with methanol supplied by a 380-cubic-meter fuel tank. Acta Gemini features Ulstein's advanced twin-tail hull design, with a main propulsion unit at the end of each tail. According to Acta Marine, this configuration reduces pitch motion, enhances on-site operability, and provides high DP capability, maintaining optimal performance even in adverse weather conditions. It also offers greater maneuverability and more effective positioning, which is crucial for wind farm operations. Ulstein states that the design enables quieter operation for improved onboard comfort and significant energy savings during operations. Since the twin-tail design performs better in both directions, the vessel does not need to frequently adjust its orientation based on weather conditions. After mobilization, the vessel will depart from Grimsby to provide long-term charter services for the Sofia offshore wind farm on the Dogger Bank in the UK, supporting operations and maintenance on behalf of RWE through offshore accommodation and gangway services. The final CSOV in the series, Acta Aquarius, is scheduled for delivery later this year.
