en.Wedoany.com Reported - Officials from relevant Afghan government departments recently stated that technical work on the TAPI natural gas pipeline project within the country is progressing steadily, including route preparation, equipment transportation, welding, and pipeline installation. According to the ministry, 80 kilometers of natural gas pipelines have been installed, and a 126-kilometer corridor has been prepared for project implementation.

Economic analyst Abdul Shakoor Hadawal pointed out that the TAPI pipeline, extending from Turkmenistan to India, is one of the most important economic projects in the region. He stated that in addition to creating thousands of jobs, the project will provide natural gas to millions of people in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

Furthermore, 108 kilometers of access and monitoring roads have been completed, and excavation work along 51 kilometers of the route has been finished, including the underground laying of 36.3 kilometers of pipelines. Officials added that equipment and pipelines are being continuously transported to the project site, with over 72 kilometers of pipelines already delivered.

Economic analyst Sir Quraishi stated that upon completion, the project will transport nearly 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from Central Asia to South Asia. He believes the project holds special economic and political significance for Afghanistan and could become a major source of revenue and regional opportunity for the country.

The TAPI pipeline is regarded as one of the most important energy and transit projects in the region. Upon completion, Afghanistan is expected to benefit not only from new economic opportunities but also from substantial transit revenues. The first phase of the project in Herat is planned to be completed before this winter.
