Emergy Offloads 168MW Serbian Wind Farm

Wedoany.com Report-Mar 2, Emergy, a Nordic renewable energy developer, alongside its partner WV International, has finalized the sale of a 168MW onshore wind project in Serbia to Heavy Energy International. The deal involves the Alibunar Wind Farm, a significant step for Emergy in the region.

Chief Executive Joar Viken of Emergy stated: “This transaction marks a significant milestone in our mission to expand sustainable energy solutions across south-east Europe.” WV International, based in the Netherlands and Belgium, collaborated with Emergy on this project, while Heavy Energy International, a Hong Kong subsidiary of turbine manufacturer Sany Renewable Energy, acquired the project rights.

The Alibunar Wind Farm includes two phases, Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2, both situated in the Alibunar municipality of Serbia. Once operational, the projects are projected to produce around 480GWh of electricity each year. They have secured market premiums through Serbia’s renewable energy auctions.

Following construction and grid integration, the electricity from these wind farms will be supplied to Serbia’s state-owned utility, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement.

Since 2022, Emergy has expanded its operations, managing over 2GW of projects in development across Serbia, Romania, Greece, and Ukraine. The Alibunar sale reflects its growing presence in south-east Europe’s renewable energy sector.

In the same auction round, other participants, such as Matrix—a subsidiary of French firm Akuo—secured approval for its Bela Anta 2 wind farm project. Serbia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy reported that the auction’s initial quota of 424.8MW for solar and wind projects was surpassed, with a total of 645MW allocated across 10 initiatives. The process saw 41 applications, including 34 solar projects and seven wind energy developments.

The Alibunar Wind Farm transaction underscores ongoing efforts to enhance renewable energy capacity in Serbia, supported by both local and international stakeholders.
