en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, US wind engineering consultancy CPP Wind Engineering launched a wind-resistance design certification program for utility-scale ground-mounted PV plants, covering single-axis trackers, fixed-tilt mounting structures, and on-site wind-resistance design for PV plants. The program offers two services—Site Certification and System Qualification—which respectively review a PV plant's adaptability to wind conditions and the wind-resistance design basis of mounting systems, providing third-party technical assessments for project developers, equipment manufacturers, and independent engineering consultants.

Site Certification focuses on reviewing the climate and wind condition assessment at the PV project location, the high-wind protection angle and stow strategy of trackers, anemometer placement, and whether the mounting structure selection meets local design wind load requirements. The certification process combines project site conditions to verify equipment configuration, operating strategies, and design parameters.

System Qualification is primarily aimed at manufacturers of PV trackers and fixed-tilt mounting structures, reviewing the wind engineering design data, wind tunnel test methods, and related technical basis of product series. This service evaluates individual product series to verify whether test results support the engineering application of products under specific wind conditions.

CPP Wind Engineering has 45 years of wind engineering service experience, with boundary layer wind tunnel laboratories in the United States, Australia, and Malaysia. Its business includes wind tunnel testing, aeroelastic analysis, research on PV tracker stow strategies, and wind loss incident investigations. The newly launched certification services can be used for project financing, insurance review, engineering due diligence, and mounting equipment selection. Tornado risk is assessed separately through dedicated evaluations.
