en.Wedoany.com Reported - Mitie has expanded its partnership with the Government Property Agency (GPA), securing a £4 million, three-year facilities management contract to support refurbished offices in Peterborough and Whitehall. The contract covers three locations: Quay House, a regional hub in Peterborough, and two Grade II listed buildings at 3-8 and 55 Whitehall in Westminster.

Under the agreement, Mitie engineers will provide predictive mechanical and engineering maintenance, monitoring equipment such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to prevent breakdowns, reduce disruptions, and extend asset life.

To help the GPA create safe and resilient workplaces suited to a modern workforce, Mitie will also deliver specialist compliance services, including water hygiene, electrical testing, and fire and security system testing. This work will support the safety and wellbeing of staff across seven government departments, including the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Great British Nuclear, and His Majesty's Passport Office.

The contract includes the transfer of colleagues to Mitie under TUPE, the creation of new full-time engineer positions, 12 facilities management internship placements at Quay House for young people facing employment barriers, and advanced NVQ Level 3 leadership apprenticeships for colleagues at the Whitehall site. Under Mitie's "Plan Thrive" commitment, which aims to uplift 1 million people and 1,000 places, the initiative also pledges 120 volunteering hours for careers fairs, establishing pathways into facilities management, and using local specialist suppliers to support the regional economy.

Andrew Rawdon, Managing Director of Mitie's Central Government division, said that by working closely with the Government Property Agency, Mitie's engineers will bring extensive expertise to help maintain operations at Quay House and balance the needs of a modern workforce with the historic character of the Whitehall buildings. The addition of specialist compliance services will ensure the buildings remain safe and reliable.
