en.Wedoany.com Reported - Amazon unveiled its latest warehouse robot, Proteus, at its "Delivering the Future" event in London. The robot can receive instructions through conversational language, naturally powered by artificial intelligence technology. This next-generation autonomous mobile robot (AMR) is designed to understand workers' natural language commands and transport items within distribution centers. According to CNBC, the original Proteus model was first deployed in 2022 to assist workers in moving carts weighing up to 400 kilograms, and is currently used in only 25 distribution centers in the United States. The new version is planned for launch in Europe in the first half of 2027. Amazon stated that, like its predecessor, the new Proteus is designed to handle physically demanding tasks such as moving heavy carts and transporting items over long distances, allowing employees to focus on higher-skilled work, including managing inventory flow and ensuring quality control. Distribution center employees will be able to command the robot using simple language, without the need for technical instructions or programming interfaces accessible only to a few. Scott Dresser, Vice President of Amazon Robotics, said: "You tell it what needs to be done, and it determines the priorities, routes, and timing on its own."

At the event, Amazon also announced other robotics technology advancements, including its first robot with tactile sensing, Vulcan, and a robotic suitcase handling system named STARK.
