en.Wedoany.com Reported - Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd, India's largest automotive components manufacturer, has commissioned its first ground-mounted captive solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. The project was developed through the group's energy business company, Motherson New Energy Ltd, in collaboration with international renewable energy developer ib vogt.

Located in Mahoba, the solar plant has an installed capacity of 15 MWp and will supply renewable energy to multiple manufacturing facilities of Motherson in the state. As a captive renewable energy project for the group, the plant is expected to generate approximately 23.4 GWh of renewable electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 17,000 tons.

During the project development phase, ib vogt provided support in land acquisition and regulatory approvals, and subsequently completed the technical design and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) execution.

This project is part of the Motherson Group's clean energy transition strategy, helping to increase the share of renewable energy usage, reduce operational carbon intensity, and support the decarbonization goals of global customers. At the same time, by securing reliable and cost-competitive clean electricity over the long term, the plant also strengthens the group's energy diversification strategy.
