en.Wedoany.com Reported - China Steel Corporation (CSC), Taiwan, China's largest integrated steel producer, has announced a reduction in domestic selling prices for some steel product categories, lowering hot-rolled coils, hot-rolled plates, and standard cold-rolled plates by NT$300 (US$10) per ton for deliveries next month. This adjustment ends a streak of six consecutive price increases driven by limited market supply.

Prices for electrical steel, electrogalvanized coils, and galvanized steel sheets used in the home appliance, computer, and construction industries remain unchanged. CSC stated that this move aims to align with market conditions and maintain the competitiveness of its steel-consuming customers.

This price adjustment comes as Vietnam's Hoa Phat Group and Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corp reduce prices by US$14-23 per ton. China's Baoshan Iron & Steel Co has kept its prices unchanged for next month, while steel quotations in the United States and Europe remain at high levels.

Meanwhile, CSC has raised quarterly prices for some product categories, including steel plates, long products, and hot-rolled and cold-rolled items, by up to NT$1,000 per ton. Prices for automotive steel have been increased by NT$500 per ton. The company explained that this is due to persistently high production costs: iron ore prices remain at around US$100 per ton, and coking coal prices are approximately US$240 per ton.

CSC's financial position has also improved, with the company reporting a pre-tax profit of NT$485 million (US$15.4 million) last month, compared to a loss in the first quarter of this year.
