en.Wedoany.com Reported - WeDoAny News, June 18 – The Datengxia Water Control Project has officially passed the completion acceptance organized by the Ministry of Water Resources, marking the full completion of all construction tasks and its transition into normal operation.
As a key node of the national water network, the Datengxia Project integrates multiple benefits including flood control, navigation, power generation, water replenishment for saltwater intrusion suppression, and irrigation. The total investment is 35.736 billion yuan, with a total storage capacity of 3.479 billion cubic meters, a flood control storage capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters, and a normal water level of 61 meters. Since construction began in November 2014, all parties involved have overcome multiple challenges such as high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and complex geological conditions, and have tackled technical difficulties including the manufacturing and installation of ultra-high-head miter gates and giant Kaplan turbine generator units. The main works were completed four months ahead of the approved schedule.
Since its operation, the project has withstood nine numbered floods on the Xijiang River, including four in 2024. The navigation capacity of the Qianjiang River has increased from 300 tons to 3,000 tons, with a cumulative lockage tonnage of nearly 500 million tons. The total power generation has reached nearly 29 billion kWh. The project has also carried out 21 emergency water replenishments, with a cumulative volume of 3.82 billion cubic meters. It has established the largest water ecological protection system among water conservancy projects in China, with the dual fishways observing 98 fish species and releasing nearly 20 million fish fry.
During the acceptance process, the acceptance committee of the Ministry of Water Resources conducted on-site inspections of the project's operation, listened to reports from the project legal entity and other parties, reviewed relevant materials, and formulated and approved the completion acceptance certificate.
