en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bangchak Group has officially launched Thailand's first commercial production facility for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), marking a significant step in the country's low-carbon energy transition and its integration into the global supply chain for next-generation aviation fuels.

Located at the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery, this facility is Thailand's first standalone SAF production unit using 100% HEFA-SPK (Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids – Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene) technology. The unit produces fuel from renewable raw materials such as used cooking oil. According to internationally recognized standards, HEFA-SPK technology can reduce carbon emissions across the aviation fuel lifecycle by up to 80%.

Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Chief Executive Officer of Bangchak Group, confirmed that the plant is now fully operational. Built from the ground up, the facility is designed to meet growing domestic and international demand for sustainable aviation fuel. The group has also established a comprehensive ecosystem covering used cooking oil collection and feedstock management to strengthen energy security and sustainability.

The facility has an initial production capacity of one million liters per day, with technology partners including Desmet (Belgium) and UOP Honeywell (USA). The production process ensures strict quality control and compliance with international certification standards, including ISCC.

Bangchak Group plans to conduct its first SAF export on May 19, signaling Thailand's readiness to participate in the global SAF market. This move reinforces the group's position as a leader in future energy and supports its long-term vision of "creating a sustainable world through green innovation."
