en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group (ISSG)'s newly built dedicated cargo vessel, Menawethan, has arrived in Penzance, UK, after completing its delivery voyage from Vietnam.

Menawethan will replace the older Gry Maritha to provide year-round regular cargo services to the Isles of Scilly, transporting essential goods and supplies.

According to ISSG, the vessel features significant improvements in cargo capacity and the ability to transport perishable, chilled, and frozen goods, enabling more reliable delivery of supplies between the UK mainland and the islands.

The ship also includes a passenger lounge accommodating up to 12 people.

The vessel was designed by Piriou in collaboration with Van Oossanen Naval Architects of the Netherlands, and complies with Lloyd's Register standards.

The delivery voyage took approximately two months, passing via the Cape of Good Hope.

ISSG stated that it will not formally take delivery of Menawethan until final contractual and legal procedures are completed in Penzance. Subsequently, the vessel will undergo statutory inspections by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, along with crew training and sea trials.
