en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spanish company Iberdrola has commissioned the Fénix solar PV plant in Italy, with an installed capacity of 243 MW and an annual generation of nearly 400,000 MWh, sufficient to meet the equivalent electricity demand of over 140,000 households.

Located in the municipalities of Centuripe, Paternò, and Belpasso, between the provinces of Enna and Catania in Sicily, the plant employed over 500 professionals during peak construction and installed more than 413,000 bifacial solar modules.

The plant is connected to the power grid via 26 km of medium-voltage lines and 9 km of high-voltage lines.

Most of Fénix's electricity output has been contracted with Italian companies through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to stabilize energy costs and ensure supply security. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Hugh Elliott, Executive President of Iberdrola Energía Internacional; Valerio Faccenda, Country Manager of Iberdrola Italia; Miguel Ángel Fernández-Palacios Martínez, Spanish Ambassador; and representatives from regional and municipal authorities.
