Qualcomm unveils AI data center strategy and next growth phase at 2026 Investor Day

According to the updated fiscal 2029 targets for the QCT business, non-phone revenue is expected to reach $40 billion. This includes an automotive revenue target of $10 billion, an IoT revenue target exceeding $14 billion, an industrial, networking, and robotics business target of $8 billion, a personal AI and computing business target of $6 billion, and a data center revenue target exceeding $15 billion. The handset business is expected to account for approximately one-third of QCT revenue in fiscal 2029.

Qualcomm noted that as AI computing becomes increasingly distributed across devices, the edge, and the cloud over the next three to five years, several large markets are approaching inflection points. These markets, encompassing agentic edge devices, data center infrastructure, automotive, industrial systems, networking, and robotics, represent a total addressable market of approximately $1.7 trillion by 2030.

Looking beyond fiscal 2029, Qualcomm sees long-term growth in data centers, robotics, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving, industrial AI, personal AI, and 6G. Agentic AI is expected to drive a new upgrade cycle for intelligent connected devices. The strategy was presented by Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon, Qualcomm CFO and COO Akash Palkhiwala, Qualcomm Technologies Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Center Tony Pialis, and Qualcomm Technologies Senior Vice President and Group General Manager of Automotive, Industrial and Embedded IoT, and Robotics Nakul Duggal.

Cristiano Amon stated that Qualcomm is defining a new chapter, accelerating its edge diversification strategy, introducing a comprehensive roadmap for next-generation AI data centers, and evolving into a platform company. He believes that Qualcomm's presence across the computing continuum, along with its technological capabilities in low-power computing, AI, and connectivity, positions it to seize these opportunities.
