en.Wedoany.com Reported - Governor Daniel Vilela announced that the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at the Federal University of Goiás (Ceia-UFG) will receive a new investment of 78 million reais, consolidating the state's strategic position as a national innovation benchmark. As the largest artificial intelligence research center in Latin America, Ceia-UFG has already attracted approximately 500 million reais in private investment to the state.

Of the planned 78 million reais investment, 40 million reais will be allocated to building an artificial intelligence data center and an autonomous vehicle laboratory, aimed at significantly enhancing the computing capacity available to researchers, students, businesses, and public partners. The partnership between the Goiás state government and Ceia-UFG from 2026 to 2031 marks a new phase in the expansion of the center's activities and reinforces the state's strategy, through the Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Secti), to position itself as a leading national hub for artificial intelligence.

Ceia currently serves over 100 client companies, including Google, Vivo, WEG, Cemig, Positivo Tecnologia, Natura, iFood, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, TV Globo, Itaú, Bancorbrás, Recovery, and Falconi, developing solutions for sectors such as energy, infrastructure, technology, healthcare, communications, logistics, and financial markets. The technologies developed by the center are used by approximately 150 million people in Brazil and have expanded to countries including Canada, Ireland, and Malaysia.

Governor Daniel Vilela stated that Goiás maintains its leading position by continuously securing strategic partnerships. According to him, the new investment will strengthen the capacity to develop innovative solutions for the government, expand the center's research capabilities, and further enhance the institution's international influence.

This new investment will broaden the scope of research, drive the implementation of strategic projects, and accelerate the development of artificial intelligence solutions for both the public and private sectors. Throughout its development, Ceia-UFG has directly or indirectly created over 5,000 jobs across the entire innovation chain. Governor Daniel Vilela also revealed that the next step is to launch an artificial intelligence innovation zone to attract more companies to the state.
