en.Wedoany.com Reported - To bridge the gap left by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) removing hotspots and school bus Wi-Fi from the E-Rate program, Mission Telecom is ensuring underserved communities are not left behind by expanding its partner network and launching new services. The company recently reached a key milestone: connecting 20,000 homes, impacting the lives of 50,000 people.

Through its "Volume Up" initiative, Mission Telecom launched a national effort to help public libraries start or expand hotspot lending programs. The initiative bundles hardware, nationwide 4G and 5G coverage, and nonprofit pricing into a ready-to-deploy solution, enabling libraries to quickly launch hotspot programs. In terms of partnerships, the company collaborated with the nonprofit organization CACRC (Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council) to provide affordable computers to families in need in Louisiana, and launched the RESPOND Kit, a portable hotspot and broadband solution designed to keep communities connected before, during, and after natural disasters.

Mark Colwell, Interim Executive Director and Director of Broadband Operations at Mission Telecom, discussed in a podcast how its new services help schools and libraries fill budget gaps after E-Rate cuts. Colwell previously served as Senior Manager of Broadband Programs at the Colorado Broadband Office, overseeing federal broadband funding programs, including the Capital Projects Fund (CPF) and the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. He was also appointed by the governor to the Colorado Broadband Deployment Board, responsible for allocating state and federal grants to connect unserved and underserved Coloradans. Additionally, Mission Telecom strengthened its board with new members such as Sabrina Hersi Issa, who will also serve on the board of its philanthropic arm, Mission Telecom Giving.
