en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Korea Information and Broadcasting Communication Grand Alliance (ICT Grand Alliance) on the 29th welcomed the government's "Korea Grand Leap Mega Project," stating that the strategy, centered on semiconductors, Physical AI, and AI data centers, aims to lay the foundation for Korea's industrial competitiveness in the AI era.

The ICT Grand Alliance evaluated that the strategy simultaneously strengthens the growth foundation of the entire ICT industry, including semiconductors, AI, data centers, cloud computing, software, information security, robotics, and digital talent development, and proposes a structure that translates corporate investment and technological innovation into national competitiveness and public welfare. The ICT Grand Alliance highly praised the direction of making regions growth hubs through the "3S+1F Strategy" and achieving a leap as a K-semiconductor powerhouse, noting that as semiconductors are the core foundation of AI and the digital industry, maintaining a super-gap in memory, strengthening advanced packaging, preempting next-generation AI semiconductors, and stabilizing the supply chain of materials, components, and equipment are directly linked to national competitiveness. It also emphasized that the early completion of production bases in the capital region and the expansion of the regional semiconductor ecosystem are important attempts to balance industrial competitiveness enhancement with regional balanced development.

The ICT Grand Alliance also welcomed the direction of fostering Physical AI as a national strategic industry, stating that as AI enters the stage of solving real-world problems in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, agriculture, security, and defense, Physical AI is becoming the core of next-generation industrial competition. AI transformation in manufacturing, development of robot foundation models, construction of industrial data factories, localization of core components, and training of specialized talent are crucial for building the domestic Physical AI ecosystem. The ICT Grand Alliance is determined to cooperate so that Physical AI not only enhances industrial productivity but also helps solve social issues such as public safety, healthcare, and disaster response.

The ICT Grand Alliance expressed support for the strategy of large-scale AI data center construction and export dynamism of the AI data center solution industry, evaluating that AI data centers are the core infrastructure supporting ultra-large AI, industrial AI, and public AI services. Linking them with domestic AI semiconductors, power/cooling solutions, cloud computing technologies, and AI development tools and developing them into an export industry is very timely from the perspective of creating future growth engines for the ICT industry. The ICT Grand Alliance also noted the importance of proposing stable power and water supply and the electrical national transition as core infrastructure, stating that semiconductor production facilities and AI data centers require large-scale power and water, and supply delays could lead to investment delays and weakened competitiveness. It added that considering grid expansion, energy storage devices, renewable energy, nuclear power, small modular reactors (SMRs), and regional differential electricity pricing are realistic approaches needed for the era of advanced industries.

The ICT Grand Alliance evaluated that the construction of enterprise-type advanced cities is a core foundation for driving regional growth through advanced industry investment. Competition in advanced industries is not solely determined by production facilities; it requires simultaneously providing residential, educational, cultural, medical, transportation, and research innovation infrastructure to attract and retain top talent. Site supply reflecting corporate needs, fast-track permits, and linkage with local universities are conditions for effectively operating regional advanced industry ecosystems. The ICT Grand Alliance stated that, as a cooperative platform representing Korea's ICT industry, it will convey industry field opinions based on industry-academia-research-government cooperation networks, consolidate the strength of the entire ICT field, and actively cooperate to make this Korea Grand Leap Mega Project a core strategy for transforming Korea from a follower to a leader in the AI era.
