Patmos has signed a contract to acquire a warehouse building located at 2500 Little Blue Parkway and convert it into a data center.

Monica Brisimitzakis, Vice President of Strategic Growth at Patmos, revealed at a city council meeting last week that the company negotiated with the warehouse owner, Kansas City developer NorthPoint, in November last year. The estimated value of the building permit application for the project is approximately $107 million.

NorthPoint previously sold 398 acres of land in Independence to neocloud service provider Nebius for a large-scale data center project. The transaction was completed in early December 2025, and Nebius broke ground in May this year.

As part of the Nebius project, which requires at least 800 megawatts of power, Independence Power Partners is restarting the Blue Valley Power Plant Site, with plans to increase generation capacity to 1.1 gigawatts by December 2029.

Following the news of the Nebius project, Independence has been considering a 180-day moratorium on zoning approvals for data center projects. However, Brisimitzakis stated that Patmos's project is already underway and will not be affected by any moratorium.

Patmos claims to offer cloud, high-density computing, software, and data center solutions "free from the threat of big tech scrutiny." It describes itself as providing "non-cancellable colocation solutions" and "a sanctuary for digital exiles."

The company currently operates four data centers in Kansas City, Missouri; Dallas, Texas; and Phoenix, Arizona.
