SuperX considers building 1GW AI computing campus in Kazakhstan

On June 23, during the World Economic Forum's Summer Davos event in Dalian, SuperX executives held talks with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The two sides discussed phased development plans for the project.

Under the proposal, the campus would be built over three years: a 200-megawatt (MW) computing cluster in 2027, an additional 300 MW in 2028, and a further 500 MW expansion in 2029. The 1 GW facility aims to support Kazakhstan in building domestic sovereign computing capacity and help the country become a regional digital infrastructure hub connecting Eurasia.

Kazakhstan has designated 2026 as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. Through its "Digital Kazakhstan" strategy, the government is seeking to reduce reliance on external hardware and software while expanding local computing capacity.

The talks also covered the potential establishment of a joint working group to assess land use, energy supply, fiscal and tax policies, and talent development. Kazakhstan has invited SuperX to conduct site selection studies locally to evaluate project feasibility.

SuperX is a Singapore-headquartered AI infrastructure company that provides hardware, software, and services for AI data centers, including AI servers, 800VDC power systems, liquid cooling solutions, AI cloud services, and AI agents. Company Chairman Huang Chenhong stated that Kazakhstan's geographic location, energy resources, and foreign investment policies could make it a potential node in the company's global computing network.

SuperX stated that its OEM partnership with NVIDIA, liquid cooling and high-voltage DC solutions, cross-border data compliance framework, and manufacturing capabilities in China and overseas can all support the project. The company also noted that its experience in overseas data center deployment could be replicated in Kazakhstan to shorten project construction timelines.

The Kazakh Prime Minister has expressed welcome for further engagement between SuperX and Kazakhstan Invest to jointly assess project feasibility. Subsequent discussions will determine whether the proposed framework can be translated into concrete development plans. If the project proceeds, it would help fill Kazakhstan's domestic computing capacity gap and drive the development of its AI industry. For SuperX, the project represents a potential pathway into the Central Asian digital infrastructure market and an expansion of its cross-border computing footprint between Eurasia.
