en.Wedoany.com Reported - Amazon, Iridium, Telesat, and Globalstar have announced the formation of the SpaceConnect association to represent the non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) satellite economy.

SpaceConnect will advocate globally for policies that support the growth, innovation, and responsible deployment of NGSO satellite systems. The organization will collaborate with international agencies, governments, and the industry to ensure NGSO systems continue to play a central role in advancing global connectivity, economic development, and space sustainability.
The association's Executive Director is David Redl, who previously served as Administrator of the U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA); its General Counsel is Julie Kearney, the first Director of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Space Bureau.
David Redl stated that NGSO satellite systems are transforming how the world connects, creating new opportunities for economic growth, national security, and global innovation. SpaceConnect will serve as a unified voice advocating for modern, forward-looking policies that reflect NGSO technological capabilities. As governments make critical decisions on spectrum, market access, and space governance, the association is committed to working with policymakers and stakeholders to build a competitive, secure, and resilient connectivity ecosystem.
Julie Kearney noted that space communications management policies should reflect the pace of innovation. SpaceConnect will leverage its expertise and global perspective to drive policies that foster innovation while ensuring safe and responsible operations in low Earth orbit. By advocating for updated licensing processes, efficient spectrum access, and industry-led best practices, the association aims to help unlock the full potential of NGSO systems for governments, businesses, and global communities.
