en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sandvik Coromant has won the 2026 Ringier Technology Innovation Award in the metalworking industry for its CoroMill® MR20 high-efficiency milling tool. This award is recognized as a technology benchmark in the metal cutting and precision manufacturing supply chain. The evaluation covers four dimensions: product originality, process breakthrough, production cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and green manufacturing adaptability. The product innovation achievements and process optimization value have been highly recognized by industry experts and end-use manufacturers.

The CoroMill® MR20 is a milling solution developed by Sandvik Coromant to address issues such as rising scrap rates and extended production cycles in the machining of high-value components in aerospace, pump and valve, and mold and die sectors. The tool incorporates multiple improvements in structural design, insert grade, chip pocket optimization, and cooling method: an innovative insert seat design enhances machining safety, a robust insert body increases reliability, chip pocket optimization for ISO S, ISO M, and ISO P materials improves feed capability while achieving high cutting efficiency and suitability for multiple materials; and an internal cooling system with bottom coolant outlet effectively extends tool life.
The design optimization from cutter body to insert enables the CoroMill® MR20 to deliver stable machining performance across various materials, significantly improving metal cutting efficiency. The tool is suitable for roughing to semi-finishing operations in aerospace, pump and valve, general machinery, and mold and die industries, effectively reducing downtime risk and increasing machine utilization. In actual machining scenarios such as Inconel 718 energy components and duplex stainless steel profile milling, the tool achieves higher machine utilization, shorter production cycles, and minimized downtime.
Sandvik Coromant stated that it will continue to iterate its cutting tool product lines, including milling, turning, and hole-making tools. Leveraging the synergy between its global R&D system and local application technology centers, the company will provide customized process solutions for new energy vehicles, aerospace, engineering machinery, precision molds, and other sectors, supporting the development of the domestic equipment manufacturing industry.
