The new engines, supplied by Laborde Products, each have a rated power of 1,100 horsepower (at 1,600 rpm), providing a total of 2,200 horsepower for the 78-foot-long, 34-foot-wide, 10-foot-deep twin-screw tugboat, which operates on U.S. inland waterways. Parker Towing Company stated that this replacement is part of its ongoing plan to maintain and modernize its fleet to extend vessel service life. Chas Haun, Executive Vice President of the company, noted that the Syble Fay is a key component of the fleet, and the engine replacement aims to keep the vessel in service, requiring close coordination among all parties. Verret Shipyard handled the engine replacement, collaborating with Parker Towing Company and Laborde Products. Jacob Vega, Marine Sales Representative at Laborde Products, stated that the S12R remains a strong choice for operators seeking reliable horsepower and long-term maintainability.
