en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, Hunan Xiangchuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Zhoushan Islands New Area Zhedong Transportation Investment Development Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for the design and construction project of a 65-meter ro-ro ship.
The vessel, designed by Zhejiang Xinhai Ship Design and Research Institute, is primarily intended for coastal waters and can carry dangerous goods vehicles and new energy vehicles. The ship adopts a full steel structure, single hull with a single main deck, dual passages, twin engines and twin propellers, and a transom stern design, with stability meeting the requirements for ocean-going navigation areas.
The vessel has an overall length of approximately 65 meters (including the ramp), a molded breadth of 15 meters, a molded depth of 4.9 meters, a design draft of 3.2 meters, and a gross tonnage of about 1,750 tons. The design speed is no less than 14 knots, the clear height for vehicle loading is no less than 4.5 meters, and the cargo capacity is no less than 500 tons. It is equipped with two main engines of 1,471 kW each and a 200 kW generator set, with a crew complement of 18.
In May this year, Xiangchuan Heavy Industry successfully won the bid for this ro-ro ship project with a bid price of 29.855974 million yuan. The project adopts a turnkey engineering model, covering the ship's review design, production design, full-process construction, as well as material and equipment procurement, installation and commissioning, testing and acceptance, and technical training. After completion, the vessel must pass inspection by the China Classification Society (CCS) and obtain classification certificates and statutory certificates before delivery, ensuring the ship's quality and operational safety.
It is understood that Hunan Xiangchuan Heavy Industry is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Changsha State-owned Capital Control Group, primarily engaged in ship design and construction as well as steel structure engineering general contracting. It is the largest key shipbuilding base in Hunan Province and the only state-owned ship manufacturing enterprise in the province. The company holds multiple professional qualifications, including ship design, has established a comprehensive China Classification Society quality management system, and possesses 52 independent intellectual property rights.
Over its 80-year history, Xiangchuan Heavy Industry has designed and built more than 1,000 ships of various types and undertaken over 200 steel structure engineering projects. It has successively built a number of representative ship products, including Hunan Province's first diesel-powered tugboat, the province's largest internal combustion engine pusher tug, as well as the first batch of certain types of landing craft and landing ships for the Chinese military.
