U.S. Patmos Plans $107 Million Data Center Conversion in Independence
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Patmos plans to invest $107 million to convert a warehouse into a data center in Independence, Missouri. Monica Brisimitzakis, Vice President of Strategic Growth at Patmos, stated that the company began negotiations with property owner NorthPoint in November 2025 and has signed an agreement to acquire the warehouse located at 2500 Little Blue Parkway for the conversion project.

NorthPoint previously sold a 398-acre site in Independence to Nebius for the construction of a data center campus with a capacity exceeding 800MW, which broke ground in May. Driven by this project, Independence Power Partners plans to restart the Blue Valley Power Plant, aiming to achieve 1.1GW of generating capacity by 2029. Following the announcement of the Nebius project, the city is considering a 180-day moratorium to pause zoning approvals for new data centers.
Brisimitzakis stated that Patmos's project is already underway and will not be affected by any potential moratorium. Patmos describes itself as providing cloud and data center services "free from big tech scrutiny," including "non-cancellable hosting solutions." The company operates four data centers in Kansas City, Dallas, and Phoenix, with the Kansas City site located in the former Kansas City Star printing plant, which currently hosts Nebius.
