en.Wedoany.com Reported - HPCL has once again selected KBR's ROSE SDA technology to build a new 24,530 barrels per day solvent deasphalting unit at its Visakh refinery.

In 2009, HPCL first used KBR's ROSE SDA process to upgrade an existing unit at its Mumbai refinery, laying the foundation for performance and reliability. This collaboration further solidifies the preferred status of ROSE technology in residue upgrading and long-term value creation for refineries.

Gary Godwin, Vice President of Energy Products and Services at KBR, stated that HPCL's renewed choice reflects continued trust in KBR and highlights the proven performance and reliability of ROSE technology. KBR is committed to advancing refining and clean fuel solutions to adapt to market changes and meet the needs of next-generation refineries.

The ROSE SDA technology, with its unique high-yield design, can convert approximately 93% of low-value residue into higher-value petroleum products. This high conversion rate is expected to enhance distillate yield at the Visakh refinery and significantly improve gross margins.

As part of India's first residue hydrocracking unit, this project serves as an important reference case for KBR's technical capabilities. KBR holds over 90% market share in the supercritical SDA sector, with cumulative licensed capacity approaching 1.8 million barrels per stream day. The technology's history and long-term value are demonstrated through numerous repeat customers.
