Shell and Hyundai Motor Extend Global Partnership to 2031

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 19, Shell Lubricants and Hyundai Motor renewed their five-year global business cooperation agreement, extending their partnership, which began in 2005, through 2031. The new round of cooperation covers areas such as automotive lubricants, next-generation automotive fluids, after-sales service marketing, and motorsport technology.

Upon the agreement taking effect, Shell will continue to serve as the recommended lubricant supplier for Hyundai Motor's global after-sales system, supplying Shell Helix series engine oils to customers worldwide. The two parties will also expand their joint research and development efforts, with a focus on improving engine oil performance and developing specialized fluids, coolants, and thermal management solutions for electric vehicles.

Motorsport and high-performance vehicles will continue to serve as testing platforms for related products. Shell currently serves as the performance and innovation partner for the Genesis Magma Racing team, providing specialized lubricants and coolants for the GMR-001 hypercar competing in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship.

The two parties will also jointly develop lubrication solutions suitable for high-performance engines and electric vehicles within Hyundai N's high-performance vehicle business. Shell has also been an official sponsor of the Hyundai Shell MOBIS World Rally Championship team since 2014, with related racing programs used to validate the performance of lubricants and automotive fluids under high-load conditions.

This agreement marks the fifth renewal of the global cooperation arrangement between the two parties since 2005. The previous five-year agreement was signed in 2021, covering the cooperation period through 2026, and extended the scope of lubricant supply to electric vehicles and hydrogen mobility solutions.
