en.Wedoany.com Reported - BT has launched a solution that allows enterprises to install eSIMs and activate devices directly from a Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform, without physical contact or manual steps, claiming it is a first in the field.

Targeted at enterprises with large fleets of mobile devices, the solution aims to save time and costs. Through a process called "Deploy to Device," it can cover devices for up to thousands of employees, enabling automatic eSIM installation or setup via brief steps, reducing delivery time from days to minutes. This collaboration provides enterprises with a consistent deployment method across assets within the Android ecosystem, with device security and workflow flexibility also cited as advantages.
Sally Fuller, Director of Mobile and Unified Mobility at BT, stated that customers want devices ready when employees need them. Collaborating with Android and Ivanti, they have created a simple and reliable way to establish connectivity on Android devices, eliminating steps that could slow down organizational processes and replacing them with a single, sustainable digital process that operates at scale.
Bruce Payne, Chief Field Technology Officer at Ivanti, added that as enterprises expand their mobile device fleets, connection setup must be automated. By working with Android and BT, unnecessary complexity is removed, making large-scale Android deployments faster and more consistent, thereby helping to improve the user experience.
Enterprise use cases have gained more attention in recent years, including remote profile management, remote onboarding, and enhanced security and data control for employees or large fleets of IoT devices. The highlight of this solution is providing a combined activation and configuration process through the MDM platform. Bruce Payne noted that embedding eSIM installation and activation directly into the management workflow allows organizations to further standardize configurations, reduce manual operations, and maintain control as mobile assets grow. This approach is similar to how organizations manage and deliver cloud-based applications.
In the consumer sector, eSIM is also becoming increasingly prevalent. giffgaff, a brand under Virgin Media O2, reported in its 2025 Impact Report that eSIM activation rates exceeded 80%, reaching an all-time high. The report showed a surge of 102,000 users in eSIM usage compared to last year, with a 71% increase in people choosing cleaner, faster connection methods. giffgaff also noted a small sample size.
