The contractor group comprises operator Afentra, along with Grupo Simples, Sonangol EP, and Sodedurs. Grupo Simples stated on social media that the partnership aims to support value creation, enhance local content, and contribute to the sustainable development of Angola's energy industry.
Afentra obtained the license for the KON 4 block and a 35% working interest in May 2026. Covering an area of 1,387 square kilometers, the block is located in a historically productive oil region, with 11 oil fields and 2 gas fields discovered, and cumulative production to date exceeding 90 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Grupo Simples is an Angolan oil and gas company that operates upstream assets and provides oilfield services. It holds interests in multiple onshore blocks in Angola, including KON 4, KON 5, KON 6, KON 8, and KON 9.
Afentra is an upstream oil and gas company focused on acquiring, operating, and developing oil and gas assets in Africa.
