en.Wedoany.com Reported - Altech Batteries Ltd announced that its CERENERGY® sodium chloride solid-state battery project has received conditional funding from the German government, with a maximum grant of €46.7 million, covering approximately 30% of the project's capital expenditure. The deadline for full project funding has been extended from June 30, 2026, to September 30, 2026.

The funding is provided through the German federal STARK economic development program and is related to the CERENERGY® battery project developed by Altech Batteries GmbH in Saxony. The STARK program, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in cooperation with the European Union, aims to promote environmental, economic, and social sustainable development in regions undergoing structural change.
The initial funding approval conditions required that all project funds be in place by June 30, 2026, and receive parliamentary approval under Germany's 2026 federal budget. Altech has received notification from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy extending the deadline to September 30, 2026.
Altech stated that the extension supports the continued development of its CERENERGY® technology, developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Society. The company describes the sodium chloride solid-state battery as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries for stationary energy storage applications, particularly in the European market.
