en.Wedoany.com Reported - Konecranes has acquired the nuclear services and port services businesses of Coapsa Control, a crane service company based in Viladecavalls, Spain, with the transaction effective from July 1.

The acquisition is part of Konecranes' strategy to expand its industrial and port service footprint in Spain. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Through this deal, Konecranes will expand its service network in Spain, gain specialized expertise at the Viladecavalls location, and integrate a team with experience serving nuclear energy and port customers.

Founded in 1997, Coapsa Control focuses on providing crane inspection, preventive maintenance, repair, servicing, and modernization for customers in the nuclear energy and port industries. The company has annual sales of approximately €4 million (about $4.5 million) and employs around 20 people.

Coapsa Control owners Jordi Calatayud Castañ and Joan Quintana Canudas stated that by joining forces with Konecranes, the entire team can continue working and expand the business with confidence.

Catarina Lopez, Port Services Manager at Konecranes, noted that the acquisition strengthens Konecranes' presence in Catalonia and across Spain, ensuring that nuclear and port customers continue to benefit from the knowledge and technical expertise of the Coapsa team.

Konecranes stated that integrating Coapsa Control aligns with its industrial and port services division's strategy focused on service growth, as well as its ongoing investments in digital technologies to improve material flow efficiency. The company is committed to enhancing customer focus and business development through continuous improvement and technological advancement.

Coapsa Control's existing customer base and technical staff are expected to contribute to Konecranes' operations in Spain following the transaction. No additional information was provided regarding potential operational changes or employee impact, with both parties only confirming that the existing team will continue working under Konecranes.

In May, Konecranes secured a contract to supply two double-girder overhead cranes for a new production facility at Westcon Helgeland in Nesna, Norway.
