Port of Darłowo in Poland Completes €30.1 Million Breakwater and Groin Project in 2026
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The reconstruction of the breakwater and construction of a new groin at the Port of Darłowo, implemented by the Szczecin Maritime Office, were completed in July 2026. The port upgrade was carried out under Poland's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO), which provided approximately PLN 144 million (equivalent to €33.3 million) in funding for the project.

The project commenced in February 2025 after the Maritime Office signed a construction contract with DORACO, with a total project value of approximately PLN 130 million (equivalent to €30.1 million), of which around PLN 109 million (equivalent to €25.2 million) came from KPO funding. The scope of work included the reconstruction of the port's 356.5-meter-long western breakwater and the construction of a new 100-meter-long groin.
The reconstructed breakwater offers enhanced erosion resistance, while the new groin has reduced wave activity within the outer harbor of Darłowo. The project also added new lighting facilities and a navigation beacon. The construction consumed approximately 980 tons of reinforcing steel, 8,000 cubic meters of hydraulic concrete, nearly 16,000 square meters of steel sheet piles, and 189,000 tons of stone.
The upgraded port infrastructure will provide safer access for commercial and tourist vessels, as well as ships serving offshore wind farms.
Another upgrade project, led by the City of Darłowo, focuses on developing the port as a service base for offshore wind energy. This project is valued at over PLN 44 million (equivalent to €10.2 million), with PLN 35 million (equivalent to €8.1 million) coming from KPO funding.
The project scope includes the modernization of a total of nearly 400 meters of quay frontage at the existing Southern Quay, Gdynia Quay, and Szczecin Quay, and functionally linking them with a newly constructed 229-meter-long transshipment quay. This transshipment quay is specifically designed to accommodate offshore wind service vessels.
