Public tender launched at EUR 800,000 for the redesign of Pier 5 at the Port of Santander, Spain

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, the Port Authority of Santander, Spain launched a public tender for design and construction technical support services for the renovation of Pier 5 at Raos, with a budget of EUR 803,100 (including VAT), a contract execution period of 15 months, and a bid deadline of November 17. The pier renovation plan will increase the existing water depth from 10 meters to 13 meters. The engineering design work covers pier structural renewal, dredging and related supporting facilities, and the winning bidder will subsequently be responsible for technical supervision and engineering management support during the construction phase.

This tender combines design and construction-phase technical services into a single contract. The winning bidder must complete construction drawing design and related technical documents within the first 3 months of the contract, and then provide technical support during construction for the following 12 months. In the design phase, the existing port data and survey results will first be verified, with topographic surveys, bathymetric surveys and geotechnical investigations carried out, and structural design, engineering calculations and construction plans prepared based on the current condition of the pier.

Design deliverables also include a dredging plan, environmental impact-related documents, an engineering budget, construction drawings, a safety and health study and a construction waste management plan, with Building Information Modeling (BIM) used for design management. The geotechnical investigation and structural calculations will be used to determine the technical solution for the pier renovation, while the dredging design corresponds to the engineering requirement of increasing berth water depth from 10 meters to 13 meters.

Once the construction phase begins, the technical service provider will be responsible for on-site engineering inspections, construction progress tracking, quality supervision, safety and health coordination and BIM technical support. The scope of work also covers technical preparation before formal construction, on-site supervision during construction and engineering documentation management. The project uses a public tender procedure, with a base budget of EUR 663,700 (excluding VAT) and an estimated contract value of approximately EUR 796,500 (excluding VAT).

The renovation of Pier 5 at Raos is linked to the construction of the new Pier 6 at Raos currently being advanced by the Port of Santander. The Port Authority plans to reconfigure the public pier operating space through the renewal of the existing pier and adjustment of berth water depths, in order to accommodate the growing cargo activities in the container terminal and the North Breakwater area.
