Tianjin Port Berth Project Approved by Ministry of Transport

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The multi-purpose berth project of Huisheng Terminal Company in Beijiang Port Area of Tianjin Port recently received shoreline use approval from the Ministry of Transport. The project will construct one 100,000-ton-class and one 30,000-ton-class multi-purpose berth, with a total shoreline length of 650 meters and a designed annual throughput capacity of 6.55 million tons. As a key milestone in the project's preliminary work, the shoreline approval marks the official entry of the project into the accelerated stage of construction preparation.

The total investment of the project is approximately RMB 1.484 billion. The marine structures are designed to the standard for berthing 150,000-ton-class container vessels, and the berth layout can accommodate the simultaneous berthing of two 70,000-ton-class vessels. The terminal can handle various general cargo operations including containers, steel products, large machinery and equipment, and engineering vehicles, and is also equipped with the operational capability to compliantly load and unload Class 5, Class 8, and Class 9 dangerous goods containers and breakbulk cargo. The construction scope includes the main terminal structure, water area remediation and dredging, procurement and installation of gantry cranes, as well as supporting systems for power supply, water supply and drainage, and fire protection within the port area.

As an important hub for bulk and general cargo transshipment in the Beijiang Port Area of Tianjin Port, this project is deeply aligned with the overall layout of the Tianjin Port Master Plan (2024–2035). Under this planning framework, Tianjin Port Group will construct three new terminal projects, of which the Huisheng Terminal multi-purpose berth project is one. Upon completion, the project will effectively enhance Tianjin Port's comprehensive general cargo service capability and open up the sea-rail-road multimodal transport corridor "connecting South America externally and radiating to South China domestically".

In the next step, Tianjin Port Huisheng Terminal Company will accelerate the preliminary work such as safety condition demonstration and preliminary design review, anchoring the goal of commencing construction within this year. According to the preliminary tendering schedule, the project's construction supervision and construction contract sections are expected to initiate tendering in November 2026.
