en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Avilés Maritime Authority has activated two new anchorage areas in the Asturias anchorage to alleviate the growing port congestion in the region.
Environmental, physical, and meteorological factors have caused vessels to wait for extended periods before docking in the area, until tidal conditions permit or berths become available. The concentration of a large number of ships in a limited space makes it difficult to maintain adequate safety distances in the event of an incident.
To improve this situation, the Avilés Maritime Authority has activated two new anchorage areas at the edge of the port channel, ensuring safe entry and exit for vessels. The larger anchorage area is located to the southwest, while the smaller one is farther offshore and is dedicated to vessels transporting dangerous goods.
