Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 16, Sika AG, a Switzerland-based leader in construction chemicals, has launched a new production facility in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan. The plant, equipped with production lines for mortar and concrete admixtures and a modern laboratory, marks Sika’s fourth factory in the country. Located in a vital industrial hub in eastern Kazakhstan, the facility strengthens Sika’s ability to serve the region’s growing markets. This follows the recent opening of a mortars plant in Ecuador, announced last week.
The Ust-Kamenogorsk plant represents a strategic step to expand Sika’s footprint in Kazakhstan, a nation rich in mineral resources with a thriving mining sector. The eastern region hosts numerous companies in the chemical, energy, and automotive industries, driving demand for advanced construction solutions. The facility is well-positioned to meet the needs of these sectors, as well as the increasing demand for residential housing, fueled by industrial growth.
Christoph Ganz, Regional Manager EMEA, highlighted the facility’s significance, stating: “The new production plant in eastern Kazakhstan will enable us to meet the growing demand from the mining and construction industries for high-performance mortars and concrete admixtures. With an abundance in minerals, Kazakhstan presents significant opportunities, and we are committed to serving this region with our innovative solutions.”
Kazakhstan’s construction sector is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 4.2% through 2028, supported by investments in energy projects, water storage reservoirs, transportation networks, and industrial parks. The total value of ongoing construction projects in the country is estimated at nearly CHF 160 billion. Sika’s new facility is poised to support these developments by providing high-quality materials tailored to local needs.
The Ust-Kamenogorsk plant enhances Sika’s capacity to deliver innovative products while contributing to the region’s economic development. By establishing a local production base, Sika aims to strengthen partnerships with industries and support infrastructure projects across Kazakhstan. The company’s continued investment in the country underscores its commitment to meeting the demands of a dynamic and expanding market, ensuring sustainable growth and reliable supply chains for its customers.
