en.Wedoany.com Reported - The first unit of Cambodia's Upper Stung Tatay Hydropower Station successfully completed a 72-hour full-load trial operation on July 1. This unit was independently developed by Harbin Electric Machinery Company Limited (HEC), a subsidiary of Harbin Electric Corporation. Trial operation data shows that all indicators of the unit are at an excellent level, with stable operating conditions, marking a critical step forward in the power generation phase of this key energy cooperation project under the China-Cambodia Belt and Road Initiative.

Located in Memot District, Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, the Upper Stung Tatay Hydropower Station is a core project in the cascade development of the Stung Tatay River basin. The station is planned to install two 75 MW Francis turbine-generator units, all supplied by HEC. Once all units are operational, the station's average annual power generation is expected to reach 530 million kWh, significantly alleviating local power supply shortages, optimizing the energy structure, and promoting high-quality economic and social development in the region. Additionally, the hydropower station will provide flood control and disaster mitigation functions such as flood retention, peak shaving, and flow diversion, further enhancing the security of regional energy supply and disaster prevention and reduction capabilities.

To address the complex operating environment of high temperature, high humidity, and high salt spray, as well as grid compatibility requirements, HEC's technical team carried out customized optimization work in multiple dimensions, including insulation protection, ventilation and heat dissipation, and structural stability. This ultimately achieved high-quality, high-reliability, and high-efficiency operation of the unit under extreme conditions.
During project execution, HEC adopted a proactive service model, coordinating production resources and scheduling plans, strictly controlling product quality, and ensuring timely equipment delivery. Before installation, the team conducted systematic technical briefings on key processes; during installation, they provided full-time on-site guidance and strictly supervised installation process standards; upon entering the commissioning phase, they quickly deployed technical experts to the site to efficiently resolve various technical challenges. This series of professional and efficient service measures earned high praise from the owner.
HEC stated that it will continue to intensify independent innovation efforts, promoting more high-quality, high-end energy equipment to deeply integrate into the global clean energy market, contributing Chinese wisdom and Chinese strength to the green and low-carbon energy transition.
