en.Wedoany.com Reported - Argentine maritime services company Servimagnus has recently completed the full removal of the dredger "259-C Mendoza" from the basin of the Port of Mar del Plata (Puerto de Mar del Plata), eliminating an environmental hazard at the port and restoring a strategically valuable area of port waters.
According to Servimagnus, the dredger had been idle in the basin for over a decade. The removal project encompassed the entire process, including extraction of the vessel from the water, onshore dismantling and volume reduction, and final disposal. During the operation, Servimagnus deployed a professional team comprising the "Magnus IX" floating crane, heavy machinery, cutting equipment, and highly skilled technical personnel, along with meticulous strategic planning to ensure that normal commercial operations at the port were unaffected throughout the project. Upon completion, the Port of Mar del Plata regained a strategically valuable area of port waters, with improved safety and operational conditions in the port area.

Headquartered in Argentina, Servimagnus specializes in maritime salvage, shipwreck recovery, and port facility services. The company stated that the successful completion of this operation further solidifies its leading position in the development of the national port system and the removal of shipwreck debris.
The Port of Mar del Plata, located on the Atlantic coast of Argentina's Buenos Aires Province, is a key fishing and commercial port for the country. The removal of the idle dredger has eliminated a long-standing navigational safety hazard, restored effective usable area in the basin, and contributed to enhancing the overall operational efficiency of the port.
