en.Wedoany.com Reported - Lidl has submitted a planning application to Trafford Council to convert the former Dobbies Garden Centre on Green Lane into a branded supermarket. The site, located in Timperley, covers 2.25 acres, with the proposed store totaling 23,500 square feet, including 16,500 square feet of sales area.
The former Dobbies complex (originally a Wyevale Garden Centre) closed in 2024 following a restructuring by its owner, Ares Management, due to widening losses. According to Lidl's proposal, the new store will provide 115 parking spaces for the local area.
Rapleys has been appointed by Lidl to provide planning and design consultancy services for the application. Other consulting firms involved in the project include Space Architects, Enzygo, Signify, DDA, FDA, Acoustic Consultants, Cora IHT, and Obsidian Geo-Consulting.
Lidl GB has been operating in the UK for 32 years, currently employing over 35,000 people, with more than 1,000 stores and 13 distribution centers. The company is part of the Schwarz Group, a global retail giant that generated €167.3 billion in revenue in 2024.
