en.Wedoany.com Reported - Swiss industrial group ABB is acquiring Norwegian marine automation and system integrator Høglund from the Eitzen Group to expand its technical capabilities and market presence in this sector. The Tønsberg-based company has provided automation systems for over 600 vessels, and its business has benefited from the growth in global shipbuilding activities and enhanced independent R&D capabilities.
According to information disclosed by ABB, the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Upon completion, Høglund will be integrated into ABB's Marine & Ports division; financial terms were not disclosed. Høglund's Integrated Automation System (IAS) is based on the hardware platform of ABB's 800M and S800 control systems, and the company reported revenue of nearly $34 million in 2025.
ABB stated in a press release that the acquisition will complement its existing automation offerings in the marine industry and support further growth across various vessel market segments. Høglund CEO Peter Morsbach commented that this marks an important new chapter for the company's people and technology, and since the systems are already based on ABB technology, they look forward to joining ABB to continue advancing marine automation.
Rune Braastad, President of ABB's Marine & Ports division, noted that Høglund's marine automation portfolio will complement ABB's existing offerings through proven and scalable solutions, supporting ABB's growth ambitions. Combined with the global reach and service capabilities of both parties, this lays a solid foundation for continued success.
