en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazil recently issued Ordinance No. SDA/MAPA 1617, aligning with the global trend of phasing out antibiotics in animal production, marking a new phase for the country's livestock sector. Fernando Braga, Global Marketing Manager at ICC Animal Nutrition (ICC Nutrição Animal), stated that this decision will drive the industry to place greater emphasis on hygiene management, biosecurity, gut microbiota control, immunonutrition, gastrointestinal health maintenance, and the stability of rumen fermentation in cattle.
This change aligns with global trends. However, since September, the European Union has suspended the purchase of animal-derived foods from Brazil, citing that it has not received the necessary information to prove that Brazilian production meets EU requirements on antimicrobial use. Currently, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) is working to demonstrate the effectiveness of relevant measures in exporting animal protein to the EU. In 2025, these exports generated $1.8 billion in revenue for Brazil.
This opens up space for alternatives, including natural technological nutritional solutions based on yeast, probiotics, organic acids, essential oils, and other products that support animal gut health and immune response.
William Reis, Ruminant Product Manager at ICC Animal Nutrition, pointed out that in ruminants, restricting the use of antimicrobials as growth promoters makes rumen pH control strategies more important, requiring producers to pay closer attention to animal feed to balance growth with gut health, digestibility, and immune system regulation.
Gustavo Aguiar, Monogastric Specialist at ICC Animal Nutrition, added that the company's products have synergistic potential with various additives such as probiotics, organic acids, essential oils, and nucleotides, expanding the capacity to support gut health and contributing to better performance across different species and production challenges.
ICC Animal Nutrition offers a complete range of natural yeast-based products, developed using the company's proprietary technology. For example, ImmunoWall helps prevent pathogen colonization in the gut, stimulates the immune activity of phagocytes, and enhances the action of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, establishing an immune barrier against diseases in monogastric animals (poultry and swine). RumenYeast, designed for ruminants, acts in both the rumen and the intestine, improving diet digestibility, gastrointestinal integrity, and immune response, thereby enhancing health, welfare, safety, efficiency, and productivity.
