en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 5th that it will launch the country's first specialized agricultural satellite, the "Agriculture and Forestry Satellite (New Generation Medium Satellite No. 4)," into space on the 7th. This satellite is South Korea's first "agriculture and forestry-specific satellite," developed using indigenous technology to reduce dependence on overseas satellites.

The Agriculture and Forestry Satellite is set to lift off at approximately 4:10 PM Korea time on the 7th, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA. With a resolution of 5 meters and an observation swath of 120 kilometers, the satellite can regularly capture images of the entire Korean Peninsula every three days. After launch, the satellite will undergo four months of initial operations in an orbit at an altitude of approximately 888 kilometers, and will begin its official mission from the first half of next year.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to utilize the Agriculture and Forestry Satellite for various purposes, including surveys of agricultural land use, verification of compliance with the public direct subsidy system, adjustment of agricultural product supply and demand, response to agricultural disasters, management of agricultural water and infrastructure, forest disaster monitoring, and growth monitoring.
