en.Wedoany.com Reported - Covation Biomaterials LLC (CovationBio®) showcased two new bio-based innovations—Xatryx® and Sorona® elasterell-p fiber—at the Functional Fabric Fair held July 7–9, 2026, in New York City. Attendees can visit Booth 404 to learn about these next-generation bio-based high-performance materials.
During the fair, Mosha Zhao, Global Marketing Director (C4 Platform) at CovationBio, will present on Wednesday, July 8, at 3:35 PM on the Main Stage. The presentation will cover how Xatryx®, a second-generation bio-based feedstock, enables functional textile performance, and how the innovation collaboration case with Huafon bio-based elastic fibers drives the de-petrochemicalization of the material supply chain.
CovationBio's Xatryx® bioPTMEG is a second-generation bio-based polyether glycol made from corn cob, a renewable non-food agricultural byproduct. Visitors to the booth will experience the sustainability advantages Xatryx® offers while delivering functional performance. Xatryx® serves as a direct replacement for traditional petroleum-based polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), allowing downstream customers to switch without changing processes or production. It is suitable for high-performance apparel applications in spandex, polyurethane, and thermoplastic elastomers. Commercial production is expected to begin in the second half of 2026.
Sorona® elasterell-p fiber is the first U.S.-produced bicomponent stretch fiber, containing 37% plant-based Sorona® polymer. This fiber provides lasting stretch and shape retention without the need for spandex. It is now available in the United States and Latin America through regional distribution partner Mercados Internacionales (MI), offering local inventory and customer support. The fiber is suitable for apparel applications requiring lasting comfort and durable stretch performance, including activewear, athleisure, workwear, and uniforms.
Steven Ackerman, CEO of CovationBio, stated that the Functional Fabric Fair brings together the designers and developers shaping the future of high-performance apparel—the target users of these innovations. Xatryx® and Sorona® elasterell-p fiber demonstrate how to reduce friction for value chain partners, enhance performance, and help lower environmental impact.
Covation Biomaterials LLC, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Newark, Delaware, is an innovative enterprise providing commercialized high-performance sustainable solutions for the apparel and home furnishings industries. Its scientific innovation began 25 years ago with the commercialization of Sorona® polymer, and it continues to advance the scalable supply of new biomaterials, including Xatryx® bioPTMEG, planned for commercialization in 2026.
