en.Wedoany.com Reported - A new data center project in suburban Dallas, Texas, has been submitted for planning. BT Gateway Data Center LLC (hereinafter referred to as BT Gateway) has filed plans with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to build a data center at 2656 County Road 4989, outside Royse City.
The project plans to develop a data center with a building area of 100,000 square feet (9,290 square meters), with a total investment of $384 million. The construction period is expected to run from August 2026 to February 2027. Royse City is located in Rockwall County, a northwestern suburb of Dallas, but the project site falls within the boundaries of Hunt County.
BT Gateway LLC shares the same registered address as Belltown Power (hereinafter referred to as Belltown), a renewable energy infrastructure developer headquartered in Texas. Belltown has over 3 GW of renewable energy projects either in operation or under development. The company announced plans for six data center projects in Texas last year, stating that these sites would have a total capacity of 1.425 GW. At that time, full details were not disclosed, but it was indicated that the projects would be primarily concentrated in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Currently, its website lists plans for ten sites with a total capacity of 4.1 GW.
Belltown previously submitted plans to build a 900-acre, 1.5 GW data center project named Project Kahla in Jewett, Leon County, between Houston and Dallas. The campus will include 500 MW of behind-the-meter natural gas capacity and 500 MW of grid access. According to a local anti-data center group, Belltown had previously sought to develop a project in Quinlan, Hunt County, but withdrew the application earlier this year.
