en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, Hana Financial Group, together with SK Telecom and Samsung Electronics, jointly announced that its new headquarters in Incheon Cheongna International City has launched a private 5G smart office network. The network covers 16 floors, from 1 basement level to 15 above-ground floors of the headquarters, and serves 10 affiliated companies of the group and approximately 3,000 employees. Employees can access internal business systems through 5G-enabled laptops, tablets, and mobile devices, maintaining continuous connectivity across meeting rooms, collaboration areas, and different office zones.

Samsung Electronics is the sole supplier of private 5G network equipment for this project, providing radio access equipment, baseband systems, and a cloud-native 5G core network. The network operates on South Korea's 4.7GHz mid-band spectrum, which is open for enterprise private networks. Its 5G Standalone Core supports network slicing, enabling independent virtual networks to be partitioned for different Hana Financial affiliates on the same physical network infrastructure, with different operating environments configured according to their respective security policies and business requirements.

SK Telecom is responsible for the overall enterprise 5G private network construction and operation system, and worked with Hana Financial's IT team to complete the integration of internal business systems. The project uses dedicated spectrum and an independent network architecture, isolated from external public communication networks; only registered office devices and users can access through secure USIM authentication. The network also deploys security measures including wireless link and user information encryption, firewalls, DDoS protection, and access control to meet financial institutions' isolation requirements for customer credit, account, and internal business data.

Hana Financial previously used wired networks as the primary office connectivity method at its headquarters, requiring simultaneous network port and cabling adjustments when employees changed workstations, collaborated in meetings, or reconfigured spaces. With the private 5G network now covering the entire office and public areas, approximately 3,000 employees can access internal systems without relying on fixed network ports. The group can reorganize office spaces based on department and personnel changes while reducing network rewiring and terminal connection adjustments.

This network is also used as the foundational connectivity for Hana Financial's subsequent AI and data applications. SK Telecom stated that when enterprise internal AI applications require continuous access to data and business systems, a stable and controlled wireless access environment will become a fundamental requirement. This deployment connects headquarters office terminals, enterprise internal systems, and the 5G private network, providing a unified network environment for the subsequent introduction of AI applications, data analytics, and mobile collaboration tools in daily office operations.

Samsung has currently extended its private 5G business across manufacturing, finance, construction, and IT industries, while also offering products including RAN, vRAN, Open RAN, AI RAN, and cloud-native core networks. On September 23, Samsung also separately secured KT and SK Telecom AI RAN project orders, with related projects planned to deploy 5G SA private networks in industrial environments such as shipbuilding and petrochemicals starting in October. The Hana Financial project extends similar private network capabilities to financial office scenarios.
