Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 25, Black & Veatch, a U.S.-based engineering and construction firm specializing in energy infrastructure, has selected Marinetrans, a Norwegian logistics provider, to manage project logistics for two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel construction projects. The contracts, covering 2025 to 2027, involve comprehensive logistics services for the FLNG newbuilds, including transportation of critical components, heavy-lift deliveries, supply chain coordination, and global on-site support.

Christina Chai, Supply Chain Director at Black & Veatch, stated: “Partnering with Marinetrans ensures that we have a reliable and experienced logistics provider to manage the intricate supply chain of these high-profile FLNG vessel projects. Their expertise in project logistics will play a crucial role in the successful execution of our operations.” The collaboration aims to streamline operations and ensure timely delivery of components for the advanced vessels.

The FLNG projects are part of a broader effort to meet growing global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG). These vessels are designed to enhance production capacity and provide flexible, sustainable energy solutions worldwide. The construction of these state-of-the-art facilities reflects the industry’s focus on innovative infrastructure to support cleaner energy systems.

Reidar Evensen, Group Director of Projects & Offshore at Marinetrans, commented: “We are honored to be selected by Black & Veatch for these large projects. Our expertise in complex logistics and focus on operational excellence ensure the timely and efficient construction of these state-of-the-art FLNG vessels.” Marinetrans plans to utilize its global network and customized logistics solutions to address the unique challenges of these initiatives.

Vidar Olsen, Project Manager at Marinetrans, added: “We are excited to contribute to these projects and bring our experience in maritime logistics to the table.” His team’s capabilities are expected to support the seamless execution of the FLNG construction, ensuring efficiency across the supply chain.

In a related development, Black & Veatch divested its stake in the FLNG Hilli to Golar LNG in December 2024. The Hilli is currently under contract with Perenco in Cameroon until July 2026, after which it is slated to relocate to Argentina for a 20-year project with Southern Energy, a consortium of natural gas producers.

The partnership between Black & Veatch and Marinetrans underscores the importance of specialized logistics in delivering complex energy projects. By leveraging Marinetrans’ expertise, Black & Veatch aims to advance the construction of FLNG vessels, contributing to global energy sustainability and infrastructure development.
