en.Wedoany.com Reported - Baumüller has introduced the BAS-Link DC-Grid energy distribution platform and the BAS-PCS intelligent power management system to address the efficient connection of multiple energy sources and loads in the maritime industry. This sector requires the integration of various energy sources and loads, including traditional generators, methanol-powered generator sets, batteries, and fuel cells. The BAS-Link DC-Grid platform directly connects energy sources and loads via a shared DC bus network, reducing efficiency losses and enhancing overall system performance. The platform also facilitates the integration of alternative energy sources such as batteries and fuel cells, providing flexible power supply for ship propulsion systems and onboard electrical loads. In terms of hardware, it adopts a modular control cabinet and DC cabinet design, which can be installed in a distributed manner within the ship, saving space and achieving optimal weight distribution.

For hybrid vessels combining diesel generators with electric motors, the BAS-PCS intelligent power management system improves propulsion efficiency and reduces fuel consumption by controlling the power output of units within the drive system on demand. This automation software utilizes variable-speed generator sets to regulate the power supply, enabling the vessel to generate only the electricity required at any given moment. For example, when cruising at a moderate speed, the vessel is powered by a single generator; when higher speed or maneuvering operations are needed, a second generator automatically starts within seconds. The software precisely controls the startup timing to avoid continuous simultaneous operation of both motors, thereby achieving maximum efficiency, operational reliability, and optimal energy utilization. This digital infrastructure supports multiple technologies such as generators, batteries, and fuel cells, and is compatible with methanol, e-fuels, diesel, or their blends. The system clearly displays the operational status of all drives in a dashboard format on the control panel display.
BAUMUELLER will showcase these power and digital infrastructure solutions at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg from September 1 to 4, 2026. Visitors can learn more about intelligent power and control systems at booth 334 in Hall A4.
