en.Wedoany.com Reported - The new concourse at Terminal C of Orlando International Airport (MCO) has recently opened, supporting gate expansion while Virgin Atlantic's operations have also relocated to this terminal. Airport management and Virgin Atlantic employees jointly held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 30, to mark the occasion.

The new gates at Terminal C are designed as Multi-Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) gates, with infrastructure similar to previously used types, but allowing the airport to accommodate up to eight narrow-body or four wide-body aircraft positions. These gates are also equipped with Common Use equipment, enabling multiple airlines to flexibly operate domestic and international flights. Lance Lyttle, CEO of GOAA, which manages Orlando International Airport and Orlando Executive Airport, stated that the new concourse is a significant step in the vision to provide the best experience for every traveler passing through the airport. By expanding Terminal C and welcoming Virgin Atlantic to its new location, the airport is increasing capacity, enhancing flexibility, and creating a more balanced passenger flow across all terminals. The expanded gates, numbered 250 to 254, are part of Terminal C's Phase 1 construction, initially included in the terminal's early development plans but delayed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Virgin Atlantic's move from Terminal A to Terminal C coincides with the opening of the expanded concourse, allowing the airline to establish a home in MCO's newest terminal while supporting more efficient international arrivals and departures. The overall capacity increase at Terminal C will help the airport accommodate 10 to 12 million passengers annually, while slightly reducing traffic at Terminals A and B. In 2025, nearly 58 million passengers passed through MCO, and the new space is expected to support smoother and more predictable passenger flow in security checkpoints, commercial areas, baggage claim, and other high-traffic zones. MCO is currently preparing for a major renovation of Terminals A and B, including updates and expansions of restrooms in all four concourses, as well as interior renovations of Concourses 1 and 3 with new finishes, lighting, and other improvements.
