First 7 Trains of Shanghai Metro Line 22 Arrive
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The first seven trains of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 22 (Chongming Line) recently arrived in Shanghai from CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. After being hoisted at the Dongjing Road Base, they will undergo acceptance and commissioning tests, marking the line's full entry into the vehicle delivery and commissioning phase.

The train was officially rolled off the production line at CRRC Zhuzhou on April 16. It is part of Shanghai's first integrated bidding project for "vehicles + long-life maintenance," aimed at providing operational support for Chongming Island's entry into the "subway era."
At the rollout ceremony, Zhang Yu, Vice President of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group; Liu Feiyong, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Mayor of Zhuzhou Municipal Government; Wang Qiaolin, Party Secretary and Chairman of CRRC Zhuzhou; Liao Hongtao, General Manager; and Teng Tianshu, General Manager of Siemens Mobility China's Rail Vehicles Division, jointly launched the vehicle.
The Chongming Line train adopts a 3-car fully powered design, equipped with the highest-level GoA4 fully automatic driverless system, featuring intelligent functions such as automatic coupling and uncoupling on the mainline, with a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The entire train is fitted with new technology products such as silicon carbide auxiliary inverters and oil-free compressors. Compared to traditional equipment, the silicon carbide auxiliary inverter reduces weight by 45%, increases efficiency to 96%, and improves energy density by over 150%.

The train's exterior design is centered on the "Oriental Dragon" motif, with the front shaped like a dragon's head and the headlights resembling dragon eyes. The body features auspicious gold and the line's exclusive purple as the main colors, with abstract dragon scales and whiskers on the sides, incorporating Chongming elements such as terraced fields, rivers, and reeds. The passenger compartment uses color-coded designs for the ceiling, seats, handrails, and floor to create a layered "island" atmosphere, forming a warm resting space. The driver's cab removes the traditional partition wall, using curved frosted glass to create a wraparound semi-open "command island."

In terms of technological innovation, the train focuses on safety, intelligence, and efficient operation and maintenance. It adopts a "no-rescue" design to avoid train rescues caused by single-point failures, and applies "fast discharge and quick repair" technology for precise fault location and rapid handling. The "imperceptible fault" design ensures that passengers, drivers, and maintenance personnel are unaffected throughout the process. The "15-day inspection forward design" uses intelligent systems to replace manual labor, aiming to improve inspection efficiency and reduce operation and maintenance costs. Additionally, the train complies with international safety standards such as EN50126 and EN50128, and has passed full-process third-party safety certification.

It is reported that upon completion, the Chongming Line will effectively promote the full integration of Chongming into Shanghai's comprehensive transportation system, helping Shanghai's rail transit achieve more comprehensive coverage across the city's administrative area.
