en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tashkent. Uzbekistan has resumed production from an exploration well at the Akhylbulak condensate gas field, one of three wells drilled between 2013 and 2015. This was announced by Uzbekneftegaz.
Due to the simultaneous production of natural gas and formation water, these wells were sealed and shut down for technical reasons. A reanalysis of geological data indicated that these wells have additional potential.
In May of this year, experts recommended restoring production at Wells No. 2 and No. 3 through major overhauls. Repair work has now commenced, and on July 3, Well No. 2 achieved an industrial gas flow and has been put into operation. To fully develop the field, gas purification equipment is being installed, and a natural gas pipeline with a total length of 10 kilometers is under construction.
Specific production volumes and well flow rates have not been disclosed, but the company noted that these measures will more effectively utilize the potential of existing fields, increase natural gas output, and strengthen Uzbekistan's energy stability. The reactivation of sealed wells will continue, with a target set to start up Well No. 3 within the specified timeframe.
The Akhylbulak gas field is located in the Bukhara region, part of the Bukhara-Khiva oil and gas area, one of the country's key hydrocarbon production centers. The field was discovered by Uzbekneftegaz in 2014. During inspections, the working group also visited the South Tandyrcha gas field and the Tashkuduk exploration area, and instructed that ongoing work be steadily advanced, with personal monitoring of each stage of restoring sealed wells.
