en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 6, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Transportation held a special meeting on geological disaster prevention along operating highways, deploying efforts to deepen hazard investigation, rectification, monitoring, early warning, and response, while strengthening geological disaster prevention along ordinary highways and expressways. The meeting clarified that by the end of 2027, 995 secondary-level and above geological hazard risk points on Sichuan's national and provincial trunk highways will be cleared.

Currently, Sichuan is experiencing overlapping periods of the main flood season, summer vacation, and peak tourism, with road network traffic flow remaining consistently high. The transportation department is intensifying geological hazard inspections along highways, focusing on key national and provincial roads, tourist trunk highways, areas with dense bridges and tunnels, and sections prone to geological disasters. It is dynamically identifying and updating hazard lists, establishing geological disaster section records, and advancing hazard rectification within highway boundaries and risk prevention outside red lines. In terms of monitoring and early warning, monitoring, early warning, and warning barrier facilities have been deployed at high-risk geological disaster points on expressways and high embankments near rivers. Relying on integrated "space-air-ground" supervision, relevant departments will continuously assess the operational effectiveness of deployed sections, promptly reinforce unstable facilities, and improve nighttime continuous visual guidance facilities.

Sichuan's operating highways have a large scale and a high bridge-to-tunnel ratio, with over 15,000 large and extra-large bridges and 1,150 long and extra-long tunnels, including more than 4,400 high slopes on expressways alone. The baseline of risk hazards has been largely identified, establishing a "unified list" of geological disaster risk hazards. For expressways, there are currently 1,232 risk sections on operating expressways across the province, mainly concentrated on sections such as Mianjiu and Mian'guang. For national and provincial trunk highways, there are 995 secondary-level and above risk points, including 653 on national roads and 342 on provincial roads, mostly concentrated in Ganzi Prefecture, Aba Prefecture, and Liangshan Prefecture. It is expected that all clearance tasks will be completed by the end of 2027.
