en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cool Carriers, the world's largest dedicated reefer operator, has welcomed the second vessel in its new "Snow" class series, MV Snow Flake, as part of its fleet renewal strategy. The ship was officially named on June 29 at Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan, just three months after the delivery of its sister ship, Snow Flower. The naming ceremony was attended by Cool Carriers CEO Mikhail Ganyushin, while Nikolay Pavlyuchenko, General Manager of Unireefer, Cool Carriers' general agent in Ecuador, Peru, and Argentina, performed the traditional champagne christening.

Designed specifically for global refrigerated cargo trade, the new Snow-class vessels combine increased cargo capacity with improved environmental performance. Depending on the vessel type, cargo capacity ranges from over 630,000 cubic feet to approximately 660,000 cubic feet. Each ship can transport up to 5,000 high-cube reefer pallets under deck, while accommodating up to 168 reefer containers, with a total capacity of up to 14,000 pallets. These vessels have a service speed of 18 knots, enabling rapid transport of time-sensitive cargo on global trade routes. The ships also feature advanced hull forms, optimized propulsion systems, and energy-efficient engines, designed to meet increasingly stringent IMO and European environmental regulations through 2030, helping to reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency.

Glenn Selling, Chief Operating Officer of Cool Carriers, stated that Snow Flake continues to advance fleet modernization through advanced ship design and engineering. These high-capacity vessels strengthen the company's position on key reefer trade routes while meeting customers' growing demand for efficient, reliable, and sustainable transportation. Snow Flake is the second of seven Snow-class vessels scheduled for delivery by 2028, with another expected to join the fleet later this year. These ships will support Cool Carriers' global operations, serving the refrigerated cargo market, including kiwifruit exports from New Zealand to Europe, bananas from Ecuador, fruit shipments from Chile, and growing agricultural exports from South Africa and Argentina.
